How to Make Salt Dough

First, if using your oven, set it to 250 degrees F. Next, line parchment paper, foil, or silicone mat on a baking sheet.

After that, combine flour and salt in a bowl. Add water, a few tablespoons at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Next, you will knead the dough for 10 minutes. Wrap and let rest for 20 minutes.

After that, transfer your dough to a floured work surface and knead until soft and pliable.

Roll out to a thickness of 1/8 inch. Next, create! We have done landforms, animal tracks, map projects, ornaments, gifts. The options are endless!

Finally, bake in the preheated oven until dry and hard, about 2 hours. Allow to cool completely before painting. We usually just allow to dry overnight and pick up the next step the next day, but if you’d like to complete in one day, the oven works too!
